SYNOPSIS :

 In 2008, the Straits Times quoted women activists as saying that half of all married men took the ferry to Batam regularly for less than savoury pursuits. If the statistics were that dire, it implied that the monogamy enshrined in the Women's Charter was an ideal that was out of touch with the real world. Should our laws uphold an ideal that half our population cannot live up to? Thankfully, the real world is less gloomy.
