Singapore fiction writers who have reached the international market are so few that when one or the other does so, he and she is worthy of mention in our national newspapers. Yet the local market is too small for fiction writing to be a meaningful career. To make that leap into the international market, local writers need to band together to help each other improve the quality of their works and to link up with the international publishing community.
